WHAT IS ARKANE?
Arkane was formed between Motorsports fabricator Eric Plebani and the automotive company Mishimoto, to bring the concept Plebani had created to the mass market.
While building custom vehicles for World Motorsports, Plebani had always wanted to make a custom welding helmet for himself. When he finally found the time to construct a Starwars-inspired welding helmet, he didn’t realize that he would be changing the face (literally) of the personal protective equipment (PPE) industry.
With the exposure the helmet received on Reddit, it was only a matter of time before people hunted down the creator. His famed Boba Fett welding helmet had taken the concept of designer PPE nuclear, forever changing Plebani’s life.
Although Plebani initially turned down requests for custom-made welding helmets, the demand gave him no choice but to start taking custom orders. The learning curve was steep but moved fast, and handmade PPE quickly went from concept to reality. Still, success has its challenges, and Plebani soon realized that the demand was too vast for a one-man band.
FAST FORWARD TO SEMA, NOVEMBER 2015
Noticing the chaos and buzz around Plebani’s helmets, automotive superpower Mishimoto asked for two branded display helmets for its booth space at SEMA. Mishimoto was already planning to feature a genuine military tank, and 5 Plebani-fabricated product displays, but something else was needed. In collaboration with the Mishimoto, Plebani hand made two themed welding helmets, thus clinching the “wow factor” at SEMA.
Mishimoto realized quickly the draw of the welding helmets at the show and saw the potential of the custom helmets in the market place. Not long after SEMA Plebani joined forces with the automotive giant to bring you: ARKANE
Arkane will bring much needed style and fresh ideas to the PPE industry.
